  I was once an employee there and the owner, mr. Karim, made me work after I resigned threatening to pay me 1 pound for every hour I didn't receive pay for (over a month in total) as his chef from Egipt did not arrive on time. When I said this is appalling and you cannot do these things he went on to say he has friends that will cancel my work permit so I should shut up and continue working. In every discussion about money he would quickly switch to Arabic, become very aggressive or simply ignore me. It took me a month (and a lot of calls to the police, lawyers and journalists) to get payed after he allowed me to quit around two weeks later. I know from the staff working there that there were many others like me and I expect many more will follow as he owns Boulangerie Victor Hugo with a considerable staff rotation.

  Great breakfast, single rooms quite small though. All with TV's and kettles. Beds comfortable, a good nigh'ts sleep. Easy walk to town centre with frequent buses around the island.
